We’ve been taking more and more design projects lately. We’re having some fun helping people discover their brand and style. Our own invitations, though…well, let’s just say it’s safe to assume we’ll never fully settle on a design. Furthermore, I’m pretty positive that whatever we decide on will be pseudo-regretted for a while…and we’ll wish we had gone with something else.
So just to be sure we really love them, we’ve been digging for endless invitation inspiration..hoping to learn from the paths paved before us (mistakes and wins) to make a rad invitation set.
Check out some of our favorites from around the web recently and geek out!
Design
We love this sleek and clean skeleton key invitation suite designed by Kate of Wit & Delight and found on Oh So Beautiful Paper.

I would feel like a rockstar if my family opened this rad invitation and custom button by The Indigo Bunting.

This cute and kitschy heart-themed invitation suite by Mitchell & Dent found on The Knotty Bride warms my heart quite a bit. I would love to do one with construction paper cutouts as well.

That teal chevron pattern and “The Adventure Continues” won my heart over pretty quickly. The rest of the suite is equally cute by Etsy seller Earmark

Found these on Glamour and Grace and I love that ribbon mixed with the chevron pattern by Etsy seller Cheerupcherup

Okay. This set and I might run away together. The Indigo Bunting really gets me right where it counts, huh?

I love a) how much information b) the illustration mixed with the design and typography c) the color scheme of this super sweet invitation suite found on Style Me Pretty.

Well…these are just adorable, aren’t they? Found on this Pinterest board and there was no credit (gasp)!

I love how chic and minimal this suite is…although quality paper is an absolute must for minimal chic and we’re not sure we wanna break the bank on paper. Also found with no credit via this Pinterest board.

Yes, yes and yes. I love this. Designed by Joe Anderson, pressed by Nomadic Press and found on Head vs. Heart.

Illustrated
This bright yellow invitation suite found on HaystackNeedle has an awesome mix of design and illustration…really a fantastic hybrid, if you ask me.

I don’t have to say much about Cactus & Quail, do I? Except that these are delicious.

I absolutely love Rifle Paper Co. (I know, get in line, right?), although I have to say I think the clean and minimal typography look works a bit better for us and our vibeage…these lovely custom invites will make one very lucky couple.

Super sweet watercolor invitation suite from Green Wedding Shoes.

A custom wedding monogram from Happy Menocal would make such a sweet touch to a simple invitation sweet. How awesome would it be to tell your children you have a crest?

Above and Beyond
Love this illustrated wedding poster invitation by Kevin Dart (found on Beyond Beyond). The colors are beautiful and the illustration is so textured and sweet.

So this super pretty handkerchief wedding invitation from Rock’n Roll Bride might be sticking out like a sore thumb among all of these other invites…but I still think it’s a super sweet way to remember the day (there was no getting away from that rhyme).

LOVE. The design, the idea, the tutorial, everything. Make your own CD sa-the-da’s or invitation suite on Brooklyn Bride

Well, I wish every invitation set had this much personality. This is the invitation suite our invites hope to be like when they grow up. The bride made a playlist and put it on digital vinyl and designed the invitations herself found on 100 Layer Cake.

Sweet, simple illustrated handkerchief map invitations found on Luna and Chloe Weddings

Thanks, Alison!
I’ve seen a bunch of these on the sources you noted, and absolutely loved them as well. We initially designed our own, changed it 267 times before realizing that we, as designers, aren’t always good at designing for ourselves (our websites are exceptions I suppose, because I LOVE them). I sometimes rehash what I would change about our wedding (such as different invites, decor, etc) but then I think it was exactly as it should have been + it was perfect. Such a tricky thing though. Good luck, lovely!
Ha! I know..I actually have begun to hate the look of our blog and want to redesign all over again…If it was up to me, we’d have a new look every week, ha.
Awesome set of inspiration invites. It’s so impossible to design stuff for yourself, I 100% agree!
Yessss. Dude…I know, I can’t settle on anything for myself…suckssss.
Your work is so beautiful though! I loved your designs for your wedding, think it totally hit the nail on the head on your style and personality!

I love the idea of printing the invitations on hankies! It’s a keepsake that the guests can keep long after the wedding. I’d probably frame one up if I ever got one!
