So I took a wee break from the web for a little while, partly because of For Japan with Love on Friday (which you can read in an update on Ever-Ours kicked ass so far) and partly because we spent the weekend picking up just…a ton of adult furniture. It might not be very adult to refer to new furniture as adult furniture…but we’re not used to being all domesticated and shit.
We’ve been all over DFW with a rent-a-truck picking up our finds from the weekend and gearing up for our big move to Fort Worth in the next month. Did you know that U-Haul takes pleasure from the suffering of twenty-somethings who drive sensible-gas-mileage-sedans and need to move once every two years? They do. Bastards.
We’ll share our furniture finds with you as soon as possible, but for now, a DIY for the week: This bitchin’ jewelry…thing (You know what it is, don’t make me struggle for the right word, c’mon guys) is actually from the all-too-awesome Brass Razoo Boutique.
Since the look of our new place (+ the mismatched look of our current place) is Mid-Century Modern & Industrial, I want to finish a regular old wood frame and use small iron rods or wire across instead of branches…but it would look great either way, I believe.
Are you gonna try it?! I hope so.

It looks really cool. I think you could definitely do a twist on it to make it look more industrial. The one thing I wonder about is what about necklace that don’t have closures? There would be no way to hang them on this right?
that’s a damn good question, bunny. i think there might be little tiny pegs that come out from the branch on this version…like nails maybe? thumbtacks? something like that?
but i don’t think there would be a way to do that on an iron rod…any suggestions?
Oh that makes more sense. Hmmmm but on an iron rod you would definitely have a problem. What if you got S hooks to hang on the rods?
that is flippin adorable jewelry thingy
….cant wait for you to share your furniture finds
i will definitely share when we get the chance! thanks, chris!
HELL THE F*CK YES. All my necklaces currently hang on thumbtacks in a row on our bedroom wall, and I HATE IT. I neeeeeeed this (but you should make it for me, since I’m about as crafty as Wylie Coyote)
This made me *literally* laugh out loud. Love the enthusiasm!
ha! i love the enthusiasm as well. thumbtacks on the wall is WAY better than my “system” of throw-them-all-in-a-drawer-and-untangle-as-needed (i never wear jewelry for this reason). wylie coyote, HA! well…i’m no roadrunner of craftyness that’s for sure.
I love it! I’m putting it on my (endless) get-organized to-do list
you should definitely do that. it’s an awesome project.
Can’t wait to see your furniture finds! Sounds awesome! I love the jewelry thingamabob and I feel like I could use something like that, but I’m worried my insane cat would have a field day with it.
my insane cats WILL absolutely have a field day with it…thanks for the heads up…maybe this should go somewhere cats can’t get it…wait…they can get EVERYTHING. i forgot.
LOVE that! Thanks for sharing
of course!
Love. Especially that aqua colour (is that a glaze?). I’ve actually been thinking how to make something like this myself, but DJ is probably going to insist that I finish the bedside tables before taking on another project…
okay. you+me=crafting together. that’s happening, lady.
I love this! I have been wanting to make something similar for awhile now but my plan was to staple a screen to the back so I could hang earrings on it. But then I thought, what will I do with necklaces? So maybe I can blend my idea and this one!
ooh…i like the idea of a screen! i don’t have NEAR as many necklaces as they’re showing here so it would be wicked to do just the two branches/iron rods and then the screen behind them and use the bottom 1/2 for earrings. AWESOME idea.
I NEED this in my life this is freaking awesome… I love this!
ha! glad you like it, amma, i hope you make it! let me know if you do!
I have spent YEARS trying to work out a way to hang necklaces that I like. And I have finally found it. You rule.
Woohoo! glad i could help, lady.
I feel like such a hypocrite for wanting to BEG to see photos of all your domesticated adult furniture and rockin’ Fort Worth place (which John will be most envious of) when I blatantly ignore similar requests. Should we make an “I’ll show you mine…” agreement, to keep me holding up my end of the bargain?
Haha. We will definitely make that deal.
OH MYYYYY…love love love but I know I can never pull that off….maybe I am up for the challenge of making one…I of course would use a black frame
i’m positive you could do it! SURE OF IT.
Love the thingamyjig!
glad to hear it!
So CLEARLY I will be making this! TOOOOO cute!
dude…if you make this, you have to send me a picture, agreed?
I have one of these that I made for the escort cards for our wedding. It is now in our bathroom and I hang cards and earrings from it. You can kinda see it in the background of my belly pics.
that’s adorable! let me go check it out.
Yep. Officially cute. Is that chicken wire you used?
hi!
i love this diy idea. i may just give it a try if i feel ambitious one of these days. ha!
please do. it’s super practical, no? c’mon it’ll take you two minutes! pleeease. okay, just kidding. i just really want someone to do it before me….blegh.
