Love Your Way sucks. No, no, not you. It’s not you, it’s us. Actually, it’s the name. Damn you, Peter Frampton.
Who knows what SEO is? Raise your hands. Oh, good, all of you. You know who’s not raising their hands? Us 10 months ago. See, that’s when we chose this name. We thought we were being ironic. Not in the Alanis Morissette way, either. But, apparently, we were being iconic and moronic.
We don’t live and breathe SEO or anything. As you can see, when you search for “Love Your Way,” we don’t even rank. Like, we might be on the 100th page, depending on the day. That sucks because we want you to be able to find us.
It’s bothered me since about the first week we chose it.
Yikes.
So we need a new name. We really need a new name. We had a list of about 100 we have narrowed down to none because we’re our own worst critics and we’re terrified of picking another ridiculously anti-Google, cliche name. We have a couple of ideas, but I won’t cloud your creativity by telling you for now, because, you see, we need your help.
We’ve determined we want our blog to branch away from the wedding-centric. And, of course, not totally, we are still planning ours (I know, guys, I know). Maybe if I didn’t have to have 2-day long crying fits about the uselessness of LoveYourWay.net, I could plan this bitch. So help a sistah out.
Here’s what we need:
A name. An available domain with the beloved and mysterious .com extension.
Here’s what you should know:
Although we’ll still be planning our wedding and what not, we tend to write more about design, writing, love-ology, rants, pets, ants….I mean. Just the first few and cohabitation. We’re sarcastic, sailor-mouthed city kids. That’s all.
Here’s what you get:
We are building a box full of pass-the-baton awesome for the generator of our favorite name. So far, the box has:
- I Was Told There’d Be Cake by Sloane Crosley – an awesomely inspirational book of essays from a girl who can’t seem to get anything right.
- A mixtape: TBD based on a few artists you like and what these two rock-snobs think you should like.
- Handwritten letter: Expressing our extreme, undying gratitude.
- Pack of 10 thank you cards we designed just for this: I’ll be posting pictures later this week.
Please help our overly critical, insatiable minds come up with a name we will love and won’t despise ourselves for choosing a month later. Every suggestion will be awesome and welcome. We already love you.
The rules:
Please limit yourself to three suggestions per person, to keep the airwaves clear.
Please make sure the name has an available domain if possible, if not, we’ll worry about that.
We’re hoping to decide by Friday, September 9th, 2011. Obviously, the time doesn’t matter.
You are fantastic. Thanks for letting us sift through your minds. It’s hard to rename yourself, wouldn’t you say? If you want to share with your friends or followers, we would love as many minds involved as possible.
We also have a printable thank you postcard download we’ll share with anyone who submits.
THANK YOU.

Ooo – whilst I am far away and would not expect you to send me said prize. I am so getting my thinking cap on for you!
i would absolutely send you the prize, lady. the USPS is having a rough time…they could use the business.
Ok. These all are free on the link Alyssa gave.
design marches boldly
the sarcasm smiths
some big glitter – from the song baby, I love your way!
Yeah I suck at domain names.
hmmm
my 3 are right from your about page:
spectacular
all things pretty
unusually beautiful
thanks, Alex!
Too ___ for our shirts (artsy, awesome, etc.): domain is available.
okay, that’s all I’ve got this early in the morning. I know.
that’s awesome. thanks, Jo. :]
Okay! After way too many disappointments from people who thought of the name first, (bastards) these are my picks.
- Life Lived Madly
Domain available according to instantdomainsearch.com…although there’s some poetry out there referencing the phrase.
- Heresy, Hobbies and Humours
From this quote by George Santayana “Graphic design is the paradise of individuality, eccentricity, heresy, abnormality, hobbies and humours.”
Domain is available but is super long. I really just like saying “Heresy, Hobbies and Humours.” Try it, it’s fun.
But 3hdesign.com and threehdesign.com are available! Even though this was about your blog and not your brand…moving on.
-BadSmith
From your last names! And because BadSmith Designs sounds bad-ass to me…even though, again, this was about your blog and not your brand, but oh well, I LIKE IT.
Domain available.
alyssa, you rock. thanks.
Scotch & Chocolate- this is the name of an instrumental song by Nickel Creek but I also always thought it would be a great blog name. scotchchocolate.com and scotchandchocolate.com are both available.
I’m sure I’ll come up with more as I rack my brain for suggestions for you!
thanks, melissa! keep ‘em comin’. i love that song – nickel creek is the only folk-y guilty pleasure of mine i still indulge.
OK, just thought of another one.
(Kitchen) Sink in the Sand
Because I always loved the Before & After clues on Wheel of Fortune, duh. But I feel like that would encompass that it’s a blog about everything and anything, while (to me, cause I like the beach) conjuring up images of pretty and relaxing things and moments.
Domain is available: kitchensinkinthesand.com
Ok I’m still brainstorming but I’ll post my idea #1/3.
Discord, Design & the Dog (discorddesignandthedog.com) – a bit long but encompasses design, love, and the craziness that is life in your 20′s. I’m trying to work the words inspire or graphic into a title but struggling.
Also we need to do another happy hour soon. Ok great, see you there.
YES to happy hour. I think you said something on Facebook and I forgot to answer because 1. I’m an ass, 2. Facebook and I broke up and 3. well…I’m an ass.
But let’s!!!
God, Alyssa…jeez…tsk…c’mon…pft…gah….argh…scoff…running. out. of. dissaproving. sounds.
you’re fantastic. also – HELLO HAPPY HOUR. WHY HAS IT BEEN SO LONG.
NonAwry : kinda sounds like “gone awry” but also implies this nothing is off topic in this kick ass blog.
HolyMattressMoney: sounds weddingy (it’s a word), playful and kinda like something Batman would say.
Happy name hunting!
dude. yes. thanks, alison.
